Dining Out… The Proper Way

Let’s face it, you hate being told when you’re not doing things “properly.” But, when it comes to finding stellar food in the cosmopolitan jungle of New York City, it’d be a shame to go about it any way other than properly. Manhattan Proper (there’s that word again)—a buzzy Tribeca spot slinging upscale American fare like Maple Bourbon Wings, Chimichurri Shrimp and Truffle Burgers— makes for a lively social scene and sleek dining experience that can best be summed up in one word. Hint: it starts with “P.”

Look at the section on the menu called ‘Small Plates.’ Here you’ll find Maple Bourbon Wings and Chimichurri shrimp. Let these two dishes tag team your palate right out of the gate. The Maple Bourbon wings are basted in a rich sweet glaze that gives you the messy napkin-filled wing experience that feels so comforting. The deliciously sauced Chimichurri Shrimp sit plump on top of pickled red onions, roasted red peppers and hefty slices of avocado.

Here’s a rule of thumb: if you ever see a Truffle Burger on a menu, order it. The Truffle Burger at Manhattan Proper has fig jam, caramelized onions and gorgonzola cheese. It’s a whirlpool of hearty flavors that proves burgers can in fact be a source of true bliss. Now we know.

Manhattan Proper has a modern sleek look and makes for a great environment to meet friends or coworkers. White exposed brick and HD TV’s surround you as you eat, and unique artwork adorns the walls. Cocktails like the Westside Mule and the Togarashi Spicy Margarita are perfect to sip while you take in the music, watch the game or just want to kick back and relax. You know, properly.
